Eyeing a Tarantula after Dark (Day 17, 2016)

Eyeing a Tarantula after Dark

Walking in the Amazon after dark is creepy, especially when you spot a few of these tarantulas in the trees. With some well placed light, I caught this one just hanging out in the trees. I lasted 10 minutes in the dark … too many big and little things with wings flying around my face, and what if this fuzzy tarantula decided to jump … no thanks!!

Howler Monkey in the Peruvian Amazon (Day 12 – 2016)

Howler monkey in the Peruvian Amazon

The Peruvian Amazon is home to an abundance of wildlife, and over a 5 day period in October 2015 I got to witness some of this wildlife from a small boat on the river. Today’s image is a male howler monkey, who kept his eye on us from the shore.
