Yesterday I took a walk down to the marsh to capture some of nature’s winter simple beauty.
A closer look at the lotus flower in the giant lily pad pond (Peruvian Amazon). The flower was approximately 23 cm (9 inches), not including the stem.

Today’s image is the Owl Butterfly from the Butterfly Garden in Monteverde, Costa Rica. Each of the four gardens represents a different Costa Rican habitat and all of the butterflies in the garden are bred on the premises.
I photographed this flower in Concepción, Chile. It is the flower of the abutilon pictum flowering maple shrub. The evergreen shrub can grow up to 5 meters and has yellow and green variegated foliage with these bright orange flowers.
