Vietnamese ethnic groups (Miao, Hmong, Dao OJ, Tay and Giay), who inhabit the mountainous region of Bac Ha, come to the market here in the village of Bac Ha for trading all kinds of spices, tobacco, food, fabrics and crafts. The small village of Bac Ha is in the Northern Vietnam mountains, close to the Chinese border.
In between all the daily work of preparing meals, looking after children & the household, and working in the fields, the ladies of the Red Dao tribe in Northern Vietnam spend their remaining time working on their embroidery. Circles of women gather to gossip and embroider their beautiful patterns.

This beautiful woman is dressed in the traditional clothing of the Red Dao hill tribe in Northern Vietnam. I was wearing hiking boots in the mountains, she had her sandals and still out walked and out climbed me.
We hiked several hours through the rice field paths and roads in the Sapa Region, N. Vietnam. This woman and her baby are of the Black Mnong hill tribe.
